Segunda mano A guide to buying a used marine engine
Buying used makes complete sense if you know what to look for. This is what we check before putting any engine up for sale.
True running hours, not the hour meter
The hour meter can be tampered with. The condition of the injectors, the clearances and the internal appearance tell the truth. Ask for an inspection report.
Compression and sealing
A per-cylinder compression test detects wear and valve or ring problems before you buy.
History and paperwork
Maintenance invoices, the engine's origin and the sale documentation. No papers, no trust.
Compatibility
Make sure the gearbox, the engine bed and the connections fit your installation. A cheap engine that doesn't fit turns out expensive.
The advantage of buying it inspected
At GEYMO, used engines go through the workshop: they are inspected, tested and sold with a warranty. Ask us on WhatsApp about the model you're after and we'll tell you what we have or source it for you.
FAQ
